A Texas-sized question, explained

Texas power, without the puzzle.

Your electricity provider, delivery utility and comparison service each have a different job.

01

Your provider sells the plan

A retail electric provider sets the plan terms and bills you for service. Check its Electricity Facts Label and contract documents, including rate type, term, credits and fees.

02

Your utility delivers the power

The transmission and distribution utility maintains local wires and handles delivery. Choosing a different retail provider does not change those wires or make utility service more reliable.

03

Your address determines choice

A ZIP code starts the conversation; it does not prove that every address in that ZIP can switch. Municipal utilities and cooperatives can operate outside retail choice. Confirm the service address and utility before enrollment.

04

You can also shop independently

Power to Choose is the Public Utility Commission of Texas comparison website. Use it as another source, and compare each plan’s documents against your actual usage.
