Timing matters
A better rate. The right time.
Compare staying, switching now and waiting for your contract window. A cheaper rate alone does not settle the decision.
You don’t have to wait to get started
Save a comparison and start a plan watch in your dashboard, even while you’re under contract. With a saved end date, renewal reminders appear in Updates. Check those updates in your account; email reminders and automatic enrollment are not enabled.
Start with the contract
Find the end date, early termination fee and renewal notice. Tell us if an end date is tied to a meter read. A missing fee or date means unknown, not zero.
Separate eligibility from savings
For a calendar-date contract, Texas rules generally protect a switch in the 14 days before expiration from an early termination fee. Meter-read contracts use different notice language: confirm the stated “on or after” date. Confirm the provider’s effective-date options; a fee-free window does not identify the cheapest day to switch.
Compare the same period
Net benefit is the cost of staying over a stated period minus the new service cost and applicable switching costs over that same period. Include prorated bills, lost credits and known fees. Treat a refundable deposit separately from an expense.
Confirm before you move
Check final pricing, plan documents, deposit requirements and the scheduled start date with the new provider. Save the confirmation. A comparison or watch does not cancel your current service or start new service.
